Torchlight II coming 'summer 2012,' special deal on Steam

Runic Games has been hesitant about setting a date for Torchlight II. Given the competition with Diablo III, it's not surprising that the projected release has changed from May or June to July — CEO Max Schaefer previously said that a launch window after Blizzard's would be ideal.

Steam is listing the release as "summer 2012," which may mean Runic isn't entirely settled on July as a fixed slot. Until an official date is confirmed, gamers who would rather start from the beginning can take advantage of the deal on Valve's service: Anyone who pre-purchases Torchlight II on Steam for $19.99 will get immediate access to the original game.

Will you choose Torchlight II, Diablo III, or both? Blizzard's title comes out May 15 for PC and Mac. Right now the Steam page for Torchlight II only offers a PC version.
