This Week's Top Minecraft 1.0 Mods

Last week, with the official launch of Minecraft, we saw the emergence of several Minecraft Mods for the 1.0 update.  At the time, we compiled a list of the top Minecraft 1.0.0 mods available for download.  As promised, we have continued scouring the forums for neat mods to make your MInecraft experience as unique and enjoyable as possible.

Millénaire Mod NPC Village for Minecraft 1.0.0

Minecraft recently saw the addition of NPC towns.  The only problem is those towns aren't populated.  Many thought the official release of the game would add the NPCs, but it never did.  Now, we've seen mods that add NPCs to these towns.  Humans + mod created NPCs, but that is more of a NPC killing mod.

Millénaire Mod aims to fill the emptiness of single-player worlds by adding NPCs which you can trade with to the villages.  They not only trade, but build villages as well, on their own!  No longer do you have to be alone in the world anymore.  In addition to trading, Millénaire mod enables you to raise your reputation and unlock things with the more reputation you gain.

Help villages grow by trading with them and be rewarded with unique items such as Norman and Indian food or statues and tapestries to decorate your house with. If they start liking you enough, they might even build you a house of your own.

The Millénaire Mod is now playable with Minecraft update 1.0.0.  Learn more about the Millénaire mod here.

Somnia Mod for Minecraft 1.0.0

"True sleep passes time. It doesn't just move the sun or randomly spawn a monster. The world will go on, with or without you."  That is the quote with which this mod was modeled after.

The Somnia mod completely changes how sleeping works in Minecraft.  For instance, it simulates the world.  While you're sleeping, the world continues as if you are standing idle the whole time. Crops and trees will grow, smelting continues, weather progresses, mobs are active (even mobs added by other mods), and dropped items decay. You also heal an amount based on how long you've spent sleeping and the difficulty setting, but you'll also grow hungry.

Little Blocks Mod

Now compatible with Minecraft 1.0, the Little Blocks Mod allos you to make blocks that are 1/512 of a block (8 in each dimension).  Add small details to your creations with these tiny blocks, but just do not use water, beds, or crops inlittle blocks (it's a slight bug).  The block is crafted with one dirt and when you place this block you can put other blocks on it and these blocks will be condensed as 1/512 of a block, as well.
