The Witcher 2 developer making a new Dark Souls-esque game

The senior producer at The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings studio CD Projekt RED, Tomasz Gop, is heading a new project – Project RPG.  This has been unveiled by City Interactive and Deck13.

Remember Dark Souls?  Did you get through it?  Does it stand on a golden shelf as the epitome of your gaming accomplishments?    Well this action role-playing game is taking a page out of the Dark Souls book.  This alone gives gamers an idea of what to expect of this, hopefully, overly frustrating but awesome new title.

Other games the creators are looking from a combat standpoint are Kingdom of Amalur and Batman: Arkham City.  Your foes will have a unique look, behavior, and fighting style attached to them.  Although this game is just in the leaked phase, it has already been confirmed that the game will have a ‘New Game +’ option for future playthroughs.

So what else is known about this yet to be named game?   The world is set 1,000 years after the death of God.  That’s pretty deep.  There is more.  This dead God’s corpse is a mountain that has split the world into two halves.  Each side has their own philosophies.  A player will have to align themselves with one of the sides early in the game.

From the little we know, this game sounds like it could have a ton of potential.  It’s far too early to know for sure but I look forward to hearing more as it becomes released.  We’ll keep our ears and eyes open, I can’t wait for more information.
