The Legend of Zelda not accepted into The World Video Game Hall of Fame

Rejected along with Angry Birds, Pokemon, Minecraft

A number of classic games were inducted into The World Video Game Hall of Fame in Rochester, New York. Each were inducted because they "all have significantly affected the video game industry, popular culture and society in general."

Among the 15 games that made it into the Hall of Fame today are Pong, Pac-Man, Tetris, Super Mario Bros., Doom, World of Warcraft.

Interestingly enough there were a couple other games that had the chance of making it into the Hall of Fame, but were unsuccessful in their attempt. Games like Angry Birds, Sonic the Hedgehog, Pokemon, Minecraft and The Sims were among those denied entry into the Hall of Fame.

They will make their way into the Hall of Fame eventually, but there's one particular game that did not which seems a bit odd; The Legend of Zelda. This game has spawned many other games. Games have been based off of Zelda, game creators have been inspired by Zelda – yet it fell amongst Angry Birds in the unsuccessful category.
