The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim On Wii U 'A possibility'

Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is one of the year's most anticipated games. Easily one of the big blockbusters of the 2011 holiday season, there has been much debate as to whether Skyrim will play best on PC, PlayStation 3, or Xbox 360. Well, how about the Wii U?

I know what you're saying. "Skyrim isn't coming out for the Wii U!" Heck, the Wii U launch date hasn't even been announced.

Ahh not so fast. According to Bethesda's Pete Hines, a Skyrim port for the Wii U "is definitely a possibility for the future." When asked about developing Skyrim for a console like the Wii U, Pete Hines sadi: "We'll look at any platform that will support that games we're trying to make, but that's the key thing - the console has to support the game as it is designed."

Bethesda, the developer behind Skyrim, used to be only associated with PC. Now, they are developing for PC and consoles. In an interview with VG247, Skyrim director Todd Howard noted that Bethesda is starting to feel "a lot more comfortable" working with console platforms like the PS3 and Xbox 360.

This is by no means a sure thing that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is coming to Wii U in 2012. In fact, Hines said that creating games for multiple platforms is a lot of work.

Hines explained to the Official Nintendo Magazine, "The more changes we have to make to a game the less and less palatable it becomes because making a game is an enormous process. Just doing 360, PS3 and PC - I don't think people understand the amount of work that goes into that. All of the localisation you have to do... all of the testing you have to do... on every platform in every language... It's a pretty huge undertaking."

"So you aren't just supporting the Wii U; You're supporting it in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish."

Still, the fact that the VP of PR at Bethesda even mentioned that porting Skyrim to the Wii U is "definitely a possibility" has to have Nintendo and Wii U fans pretty excited.

Oh, and for the record, Howard noted that Skyrim would look better on the PC. So we can put that argument to rest right now.

How do you feel about the possibility of a Skyrim port on Wii U?
