That Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 teaser from Treyarch, it’s a fake

Bad, bad internet.

It's only March and there has already been a ton of speculation surrounding the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise. Since confirming that a new game was in development, the internet has been running wild with speculation. There were rumors that the next game could be World at War 2, and even petitions for the next game to be a remastered version of Modern Warfare 2.

When all is said and done, though, Treyarch will make whatever Call of Duty game that they want to make (and whatever Activision approves). However, the internet wants to trick you into believing that it will be Black Ops 3.

There are people on the Internet that are called trolls and they want you to believe that the Official Treyarch Twitter account teased two letters that the next Call of Duty game will start with for six seconds before removing the tweet. As you can see, someone wants you to think the next Call of Duty will be Black Ops — and we're betting it wasn't Treyarch or Activision.

Call of Duty

Things like this are easily faked with some basic Photoshop skills. Not only is this something tha twe highly doubt Treyarch would do, but it even says that the tweet came from March 22. If this tweet happened it would have been in the news much earlier than today.

As we get closer to the actual reveal date, images like the one above will start to appear more frequently. Even more rumors will pop up as sites clamor for a piece of that Call of Duty traffic pie.

So stand tall and hold your ground Call of Duty fans and don't believe everything you see or read on the internet. There is a new Call of Duty game in development, but we're waiting until something more official than a made-up tweet.
