Sunset Overdrive resolution and framerate revealed

The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 were initially revealed as the top of the line when it came to graphics and resolution for home gaming platforms. When games started releasing for these two consoles people noticed something, they weren't running at 1080p and 60fps like everyone wanted. Cue "Resolution-gate," the internet's rage against 900p (and lower resolution) video games.

Is Resolution-gate even still a thing? If it is, you'll care about this — if not, here's a fun fact.

Sunset Overdive will not be running at 1080p/60fps.

In an interview with IGN during the EGX convention, Insomniac boss Ted Price revealed what resolution we can expect to see Sunset Overdrive in and why: "We’re running at 900p and 30 fps native. This is a game with a lot on the screen and we made the choice to be at 900 because we wanted to push the level of detail, action, the size of the city and the views you can experience as move around."

If a game doesn't hit the 1080p/60fps mark it's usually to allow the game to preform at an optimized level.

Sunset Overdrive is set to release on October 28th for the Xbox One.
