Square Enix publishing Scarygirl on XBLA and PSN
Developer TikGames is teaming up with Square Enix to release Scarygirl. Based on the award-winning graphic novel of the same name, Scarygirl will be a platformer with colorful visuals and a distinct art style. The Square Enix-published game is set to drop on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.
You'll play as the titular Scarygirl, a young lady with a tentacle arm and an affinity for pirate costumes. As you guide the abandoned girl through charmingly creepy environments, you'll encounter friends and foes along the way. You'll also collect upgrades and different items to aid you on your journey.
Though details are scarce at the moment, Scarygirl seems to be set to follow some of the events from the graphic novel. Specifically, you'll encounter characters from Nathan Jurevicius' published work who will aid you. The game will include a co-op mode, so it's possible that there will be a number of characters to choose from.
Scarygirl is slated for launch later this month. XBLA players can expect it on January 18. Meanwhile, PSN gamers will have to wait a few days, as Scarygirl will hit that download platform on January 24. I really dig the art style of Scarygirl, and I'm a sucker for platformers, so I'll be keeping a close eye on this one.
