South Park The Game Featured on Cover of January's Game Informer

Earlier this week Game Informer's associate editor Philip Kolar teased the magazine's upcoming issue's cover "may be the most surprising of the year."

As it turns out, Game Informer didn't make us wait long as they revealed today that January's cover will feature South Park The Game.

All of the boys from the beloved show from the minds of Trey Parker and Matt Stone will appear on the cover.  Game Informer previewed the wrap-around cover.  The front has five characters, the four main originals - Cartman, Stan, Kyle, and Kenny - and the surprising addition of the lovable, naive Butters.

The back features the rest of the gang - Wendy, Timmy, Satan, Jesus, and many more recognizable characters.

The most intriguing thing about the image is the characters reflection on ice which shows them dressed in fantasy-themed armor.  The image falls in line with the "full-scale RPG" the game is said to be.  Game Informer teases that the game will be for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, and you will play as a new kid in South Park.  As the new kid, it's up to you to make friends and defend the town from a wide range of threats.  The magazine will include more details about the game and a full interview with show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

The January issue should begin arriving next week, with the digital version going live on December 8th.  South Park The Game won't be out until sometime 2012, but be sure to check back here for more details about the game leading up to the launch.
