Soulcalibur V Details Revealed, Game Is 10 Percent Complete
When we reported on Soulcalibur exactly one week ago, details on Namco Bandai's upcoming fighter were scarce. Heck, details were practically nonexistent. All we had to go by were some factoids about the game's story and modes, but it was all what we expected of the game, anyway. Japanese gaming publication Famitsu has shed new light on the upcoming fighter, set to launch for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2012.
In an interview with the magazine, Hisaharu Tago gave insight as to what gamers can expect when the game releases next year. Soulcalibur V will feature new and old characters, who will wield brand new weapons (as translated by Andriasang). There will also be some guest characters. Will Namco Bandai be introducing more Tekken characters into the mix to keep Yoshimitsu company?
Tago stated that he hopes for Soulcalibur V to at least have as many fighters as the previous game did. In addition to the new weapons that make their debut in this game, Tago confirmed that there would be a number of special weapons, though he didn't go into detail about what functions they will have. Tago didn't talk much about the gameplay side of things, either. He left the matter ambiguous, saying that some aspects of the gameplay would see changes while others would not.
The development team consists of the main lead designers that worked on past games, but plenty of new recruits are working on Soulcalibur V. It will be interesting to see how the new team members shape the gameplay and design of the next entry in the Soul series. Currently, Soulcalibur V is 10 percent complete, so expect more details in the upcoming months.
