I hope Assassin's Creed fans are preparing themselves for disappointment. Sony Pictures is closing in on a deal to develop the popular video game series into a film franchise.
They are currently in final negotations to bring Ezio to the big-screen. Ubisoft had been shopping the property around Hollywood over the last few months.
Ubisoft confirmed today, "As we've stated before, Ubisoft is actively looking for film opportunities for our top brands. THere is high interest from top Hollywood studios to collaborate on these brands."
I think we can all agree that if done right, the Assassin's Creed movie can be something truly special. If done right, which video game movie-adaptions don't normally do. Granted, Resident Evil has been fairly successful in the box office. But true fans of the game know it has completely butchered the video games. The result? Well, Resident Evil games are all about shooting now. Thanks Paul W.S. Anderson.
Sony also has it's eyes on another video game adaptation, looking at Naughty Dog's Uncharted: Drake's Forune and InFamous, both of which are Sony PlayStation exclusives.
