Sonic Generations Launching November 1

Sonic Generations has been dated, folks. Up until now, all we knew was that the game would arrive to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in November, but we weren't exactly sure when. It's official, though: Sonic Generations will drop on HD consoles on November 1.

No word on the 3DS version of the game, though. GameStop has the game listed for launch on December 31, which is odd but likely just a tentative release date. And Amazon doesn't even have a launch period for the game. It looks like we'll have to wait a bit longer to find out when the dual screen iteration of Sonic Generations hits retailers.

The November 1 release date is certainly a strategic move on the part of Sega. After all, that month is set to host a number of highly anticipated releases, so it's definitely getting a bit of a head start on the competition. How it will fare against those titles remains to be seen, but Sonic Generations is sure to be a holiday wish list item.

Personally, I'm pretty excited to play the game. After checking out the demo and enjoying it, I really can't wait to see the rest of the classic levels remastered in HD. And you know what? I'm even excited to play the modern stages! Yeah, I said it!
