Skyward Sword to Feature Weapon Upgrade System
The weapon system in The Legend of Zelda has never been complex. You find an item, use it as necessary, and sometimes find a better version of it, so you trade up. Simple enough, right? Well, Nintendo is changing the weapon system the series has been known for in the upcoming Skyward Sword.
Rather than simply trading your gadgets for improved items, you'll now be utilizing a more traditional upgrade system. By using smaller collectible items, you'll be able to upgrade your weaponry multiple times. Not only is this a fresh addition to the series, but it's definitely something to look forward to.
Talking to GameSpot, Bill Trinen from Nintendo discussed the new mechanic, and he certainly made it seem appealing. "What we've done with the game this time that I think is a little different is we've built an entire upgrade system into the game," explained Trinen. "Link has his traditional shield, but you actually get a lot of shields in the game. You start off with a very basic one, and as you fight enemies you recover these treasure or artifacts that you then use as resources to upgrade your items."
According to Trinen, players will be able to upgrade several items such as the beetle using collected rupees and other items. Personally, I can't wait to play Skyward Sword and check out the new upgrade system for myself. Who else is incredibly stoked about this new feature to the series?
