“Congratulations! Your last game sucked so bad that everyone’s fired and we’re stripping you of the Tony Hawk franchise.” Not exactly what any developer wants to wake up to in the morning.
But, if you’re Robomodo, the studio behind Tony Hawk RIDE and the upcoming SHRED, that’s pretty much what happened, according to GamesIndustry.biz.
Robomodo president Josh Tsui told Gamasutra that “It is always difficult to let hard-working and valued employees go. Robomodo has retained all of the company’s directors and leads, along with other staff members. All are busy working on future projects and ideas, which will become the innovative games of tomorrow. We hope to bring back some of our team as we ramp up on our next projects.”
