Shinobi Confirmed for September Launch on 3DS
Sega has a hard time keeping upcoming titles a secret. First, Sonic Generations was officially confirmed by Nintendo Power before Sega had the opportunity to unveil it themselves. Then, on the cover of that same issue, a reveal for a new Shinobi game was announced.
In a press release sent out today, Sega finally made an official statement regarding Shinobi on the 3DS. In essence, they confirmed what we already knew thanks to Nintendo Power. In any case, it looks like 3DS owners have another title to look forward to. Shinobi 3DS looks pretty damn cool.
Sega's Gary Knight stated that the 3DS allowed the company to finally answer fans' pleas for a new Shinobi game. By using the tech of Nintendo's dual screen handheld, Sega hopes to take Shinobi to "the next level." Sega's ambitions are certainly in the right place, and if the game's screenshots and gameplay trailer are any indication, Shinobi 3DS certainly looks like a title to watch out for.
The game will feature side-scrolling hack-and-slash gameplay and plenty of platforming sequences. There will also be some 3D areas, though these sections probably won't dominate the game. From a presentational standpoint, Shinobi 3DS will sport colorful graphics that appear almost cel-shaded.
Shinobi 3DS looks like a fun entry in the series and a faithful successor to the Shinobi name. Sega currently has the title listed for launch this September. Stay tuned for more info.
