SDCC 2016: Final Fantasy 15 CGI film, Kingsglaive gets new trailer and release date

Will Sean Bean actually live this time?

San Diego Comic-Con 2016 has been full of announcements from the Justice League trailer to the reveal of the Black Panther cast and even a company logo (woo…). Final Fantasy XV is just two months away, and as promised from the Final Fantasy XV: Uncovered event, Square Enix has been releasing steady details about the game as well as incrementally releasing parts of the Brotherhood YouTube series.

One of the big pre-release events for the game is the upcoming CGI movie, Kingsglaive which stars Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), and Sean Bean (Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones) and tells the story of King Regis (Bean) fighting back the forces of the empire of Niflheim after Prince Noctis leaves on his journey (which is the story of the main game). The movie takes place in parallel with the game and its action looks to be as over-the-top as Advent Children's.

Square Enix released a brand new global trailer for the game (seen above) and announced that the movie will be releasing digitally on August 30th with the Blu-Ray release coming October 4th. The movie will also release in select theaters on August 19th.

Square Enix also released the cover art for the Kingsglaive Blu-Ray on Twitter, which you can see below.

Final Fantasy XV releases on PS4 and Xbox One on September 30th, 2016.
