République creators confirm PC and Mac editions

Due to an influx of requests, Camouflaj and Logan are now working on République for PC and Mac. The previously iOS-only title is taking donations on Kickstarter with 14 days left to meet its $500,000 goal.

When we spoke recently with Ryan Payton of Camouflaj, he talked about their previous consideration of bringing the game to computers.

"We expressed some lingering concerns about the port [to PC and Mac] plan because, by inviting friends to come in and playtest, our assumptions were validated that the gameplay experience is much more kinetic and 'real' when playing it on an iPhone and iPad," he told us. "By the end of the meeting, we decided that we would freeze development on PC and Mac until we were confident we could allocate enough time and effort to redesigning the gameplay and altering the story specifically for PC and Mac."

According to a press release, these additional releases will "feature new gameplay, controls, and story elements custom-tailored to the unique strengths of the PC and Mac platforms" — in other words, not a port.
