PopCap Signs Deal with Sony Ericsson

After the recent acquisition of PopCap Games at the hands of EA, many nervous gamers were uncertain as to what would happen to the jolly developer. Some individuals were legitimately concerned in regards to the future of the company. It appears, however, that EA is using its power to push PopCap to different platforms.

According to PCR, PopCap will now be distributing content across Xperia phones. The mobile devices in question will be the new Xperia mini and Xperia mini pro. Sorry, Xperia Play adopters, but PopCap won't be giving you any reason to actually play video games on your phones.

The two new Xperia devices will be preloaded with Games by PopCap and a copy of Chuzzle. Users will have unlimited access to trials for Plants vs. Zombies and Peggle. Given the addictive nature of these titles, demos should be enough to actually make people want to purchase full versions.

It's good to see PopCap branching out. The company makes reputable games that gamers can easily sink hours into due to their sheer accessibility, and there's no doubt that PopCap will benefit from this new venture. Good to see EA looking out for their newest property.
