Pokémon-themed New 3DS bundle revealed for 20th anniversary

With Pokémon’s 20th anniversary on the horizon, The Pokémon Company is getting ready to whip out the big guns. There are already plans in place to re-release first-edition Japanese Pokémon trading cards, as well as plans to release Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow on the 3DS through the Virtual Console -- both of which are due to release on February 27th, 2016, the same day the series originally launched.

In addition to re-releasing the cards and original games, there will be a special New 3DS bundle that will release on February 27th.

The bundle features a Pokémon-themed New 3DS, comes with Pokémon Red and Blue pre-installed on the handheld, two cover plates for the 3DS (one for each version of the game), and a special Pokémon-themed menu.

The re-released version of Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow will look similar to the classic version and will introduce a new feature to the game, wireless communication, in the stead of game link cables for trading and battling Pokémon.
