PlayStation Rocks Voodoo Experience

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) will offer music fans an opportunity to rock the microphone and try out one of this year’s most talked about games, LittleBigPlantet, at Voodoo Experience on October 24-26, 2008 in New Orleans City Park, New Orleans. In honor of the festival, SCEA has also teamed up with Tonny Sorenson’s Artists in Residence and New Orleans Musician’s Relief Fund to raise money for New Orleans musicians, with the help of some of today’s hottest bands.

Popular artists, including Thievery Corporation, Bonerama, John Thomas Griffith of Cowboy Mouth, Dan Dyer, Trombone Shorty, Shamarr Allen and others, will design their own signature levels for LittleBigPlanet, the PLAYSTATION 3 exclusive community-based game. Developed by Media Molecule, LittleBigPlanet enables players to use their character’s amazing abilities to play, create and share what they build with other gamers throughout the world via PLAYSTATION Network.

These “Kustom Culture” celebrity signature levels, as well as a level by New Orleans’ own Lionel Milton -- the celebrated artist behind Voodoo Music Experience’s official event poster --will be accessible to play in mid-November. As gamers play each signature level, SCEA will make a donation to benefit The New Orleans Musicians Relief Fund, which was founded by and for displaced musicians in the days after Hurricane Katrina.

Even though LittleBigPlanet is being released later this month, music fans at Voodoo Experience will not have to wait until later this month to enjoy LittleBigPlanet. As part of its nine-year-partnership with the premier musical event, SCEA’s award-winning interactive tour truck, the PlayStation Experience, will be on-hand to enable consumers to experience PlayStation products, including LittleBigPlanet, and socialize and compete with fellow music-loving gamers.

For those fans seeking to show off their own musical talents, The PlayStation “Take the Stage” Tent will be onsite featuring Rock Band and SingStar. Aspiring artists can either test their skills against rival “rockers” in Rock Band or sing along to their favorite songs on SingStar.

SCEA will also host a performance by Vindictive Syndicate, the winners of this year’s “Take the Stage with Rock Band” competition, a summer-long contest where gamers posted their performance to a special leader-board at, and competed against rival amateur “rockers”. Vindictive Syndicate will perform at 3PM on Saturday, October 25 at the PlayStation Take the Stage Tent.
