PlayStation ditches Music Unlimited, partners with Spotify for PlayStation Music

Stream Spotify while playing your PS4 games

Playstation is ditching Music Unlimited in favor of PlayStation Music, a new music destination created in partnership with Spotify.

The Music Unlimited service will end on March 29, 2015 across the 19 countries it's currently available in. The silver lining to the end of Music Unlimited is that if you have an active subscription to Music Unlimited by February 28, your final month of music streaming will be free.

PlayStation Music (with Spotify) will be available to those countries, plus an additional 22 countries (bringing the count to 41), this spring. The release date of PlayStation Music has yet to be announced, but there are some details on the feature.

PlayStation Music will launch initially on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Xperia smartphones and tablets. PlayStation Network users have the option of linking their existing accounts to Spotify and subscribing to Spotify's Premium service for $9.99/month.

When used on the PS4, Spotify will be able to stream music during gameplay sessions.
