PlayStation App to launch alongside PS4 in November

The previously announced PlayStation App, which will link your smartphone to your PS4, will release alongside Sony's highly anticipated next-gen console in November. Sony confirmed the details at the Tokyo Game Show, while demonstrating the app's social features and second screen capabilities.

Using the Connect to PS4 feature, the PlayStation App will allow iOS and Android devices to connect with the PlayStation 4 and use the smart device as a game controller or secondary screen with compatible titles, sort of like the Xbox SmartGlass from Microsoft.

In addition to gameplay enhancing features, the PlayStation App also connects to the PlayStation Network, letting you see watch what other people are playing and buy games that are downloaded directly to your console. The app will also display PSN Trophy information, accept and send multiplayer invites, offer chat capabilities, and include Twitter/Facebook integration.

The PlayStation App doesn't have an exact date, but it should launch around the PlayStation 4's release which is November 15th here in North America (November 29 in Europe).
