Peter Molyneux’s Next Game Legacy is “Very Different”

Giving some insight on the next Molyneux title.

Peter Molyneux, the mastermind behind games like Fable and Black & White has been teasing information about his next game. Legacy, as it's been called, will be "very different" from what he's made in the past.

Talking with Glixel, Molyneux discussed the game in more length. "I've been working on this game called Legacy, and I can–rather like the first game I really did, which was called Populous–just try an idea and see if it works," he said. "I was in the hotel this morning, I was having breakfast, I was coding Legacy, and I had an idea. Within an hour, I was actually playing with the thing."

Molyneux is well known for gushing about his games, often getting flak from gamers despite the games from the late Lionhead Studios getting very good scores in the past. When asked for more details about the game itself, he seems to have adjusted his approach saying, "I think it would be a mistake to talk about it."

"The only thing I think is wise to tell you is that it's very different. One of the things I am proud of is the number of different genres that I've attempted. At the moment, it's hard to peg what genre Legacy falls into."

The game is currently being designed for PC, though he has not decided what all platforms it should launch on.

Peter Molyneux is a veteran in gaming, creating games like Populous, Black & White and Fable. He left Microsoft and his company Lionhead Studios in 2012 and now runs the independent studio 22Cans. So far, this new company has released two games: Godus and The Trail.
