Persona 4 Fighting Game Detailed

News of Persona 4: The Golden for the PlayStation Vita isn't the only thing Atlus wanted to announce. No, the publisher also made sure to reveal a brand new fighter within the franchise's universe. Titled Persona 4: The Ultimate, the game will feature characters from the popular RPG and is currently in development by Arc System Works.

Most gamers will recall that Arc System Works is the developer behind the BlazBlue series of fighters, which has been received positively among gamers. According to Andriasang, Toshimichi Mori of Arc System Works was very surprised when the company was approached by Atlus to help develop the Persona 4 fighter. He expressed his love for the Persona series and stated that this was a major motivator for working on the fighter.

The Ultimate will include a number of modes expected of a fighting game. Gamers will be able to brawl it out in a traditional Arcade Mode, where they'll battle AI opponents to reach the end. A Story Mode will also be included in the console version of the game, allowing players to take a deep look at each character's tale. There will also be Score Attack, Vs. Mode, and Online Battle to keep players busy.

Persona 4: The Ultimate will initially launch in arcades sometime in spring 2012, but Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will follow suit after, likely landing in the summer. Of course, this is all news straight from Japan, so us North American gamers may have to wait a bit longer to learn more about a proper localization. Well, at least we can already start getting stoked about it!
