Official: The Order: 1886 delayed to 2015

Yes, it is true. The Order: 1886 has been delayed until "early 2015." Sony confirmed the rumor today in a post on PlayStation Blog, but at a pre-E3 event, developer Ready At Dawn explained why the decision had been made to push the game back.

"To deliver that experience that we've wanted, and that we hope players expect, we're targeting an early 2015 release on the game," said creative director Ru Weerasuriya. "… We're really trying to hone in on getting the whole game to that level of polish."

Adding some more context, Weerasuriya spoke to Eurogamer, saying, "We want to hold true to something we've talked about in the past which is delivering the experience without having this ebb and flow of: oh, this was really great and that was kind of meh, because we sacrificed a little time on it."

Weerasuriya explained that it was also agreed upon by Sony, the game's publisher, that the delay was in the best interest of everyone. "We said, 'Look, we can achieve the quality you expect everywhere, but delivering on this is going to take a few more months.'

"It's not that long," he said. "It's worth it if we can deliver on the promise we made."

The Order: 1886 was originally due out this fall, but will now be released in "early 2015." Though Sony hasn't given an exact date, we heard rumors that it will now be coming exclusively to PS4 in February. With the game's delay, that now leaves a big question mark for Sony's plans for fall 2014 for the PS4.
