Nintendo Releasing the DSi XL in a New Color … Wait, What?

Nintendo is no stranger to making wacky decisions. I mean, if announcing an attachable analog nub for the 3DS isn’t absurd enough, then you may be interested to know that the company has just announced something new. Gamers can expect to see a shiny new color … for the DSi XL.

That’s right, Nintendo isn’t announcing a new color scheme for the 3DS. Don’t be silly! After all, they already did that with the Flame Red model that launched today. No, the Big N is going back to basics, or rather, back to older platforms.

Starting September 18, you’ll be able to pick up the Metallic Rose DSi XL. The handheld will run you a total of $169.99, the same price as the 3DS. Am I the only one who’s dumbfounded here? Seriously, why is Nintendo announcing a new DSi XL color when it should be focusing on getting gamers to want the 3DS, which is probably going to see an overhaul of its own in the near future?

In any case, I have to admit that the Metallic Rose color is really cool. I mean, look at it. It’s all shiny! Hey, there’s nothing wrong with a guy liking pink! Stop looking at me like that.
