Nintendo Announces 3DS Release Date, Price


The predictions and guessing games are finally over: Nintendo announced its plans for the Japanese 3DS launch, including the release date and price information.

The big day in the Land of the Rising Sun: February 26, 2011. The Japanese price is set at 25,000 yen - approximately $298.

Additionally, Americans and Europeans can expect the 3DS sometime in March 2011.

Update: According to, launch colors include Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black. The 3DS will automatically convert images into Mii characters using the 3DS's Mii Studio. Other tidbits include a possible link with Fuji TV for 3D video streaming, evidence of multitasking capabilities and in-game Internet access with a special Home button, a Virtual Console-style store featuring Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games, and more.
