Nintendo will continue region-locking policy with New 3DS

The New Nintendo 3DS

While many companies choose to allow their products to be used in any region, as long as they are imported, Nintendo will not be changing their stance on region-locking any time soon.

There have been countless petitions,Tweets, and other forms of communication directed at Nintendo imploring them to review their region-locking policy. It doesn't matter though, Nintendo is plugging on away at that old beast.

After Gamespot reached out to Nintendo over the rumors that the New 3DS/XL wouldn't be region-locked a representative for Nintendo responded confirming that both the New Nintendo 3DS, and New 3DS XL, will be region-locked.

This means that even if you were to import a game from Japan , you wouldn't be able to play it on your European or North American New 3DS (it will come one day, we all know it). You would have to import a Japanese New 3DS to play for imported New 3DS game.

There goes our hopes of a region-wide Nintendo system.

Do you think Nintendo should rethink their policy?
