Nintendo 3DS Is On Track To Surpass 4 Million In Sales

If you saw our earlier report, the 3DS is holding its own this holiday season even though Japan just got a new handheld on the market, the PS Vita.

Nintendo is on track to celebrate their butts off. And why not, Nintendo 3DS sales have apparently been so good, that currently they are slated to cross their 4 million units sold mark, 2 months ahead of schedule.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata originally claimed that they are on track to sell 4 million units by February of 2012. Though now reports show that this will come earlier than expected. The Nikkei (a Japanese newspaper) reported that it will reach this mark before the years' end.

It's no surprise really when all the Nintendo heavy hitters, like Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, not to mention one of the most popular franchises in Japan, Monster Hunter finally released on Nintendo's 3D system. There is very little doubt that all these contributed to its huge success.

Currently Nintendo stands at 3.6 million units sold, let's cross our fingers for them to cross that 4 million mark within these two upcoming weeks.
