NFL Blitz AFC West Rosters Revealed

ESPN The Gamer has been revealing the rosters for the new and improved NFL Blitz (PS3 and 360) division by division.  The most recent division revealed was the AFC West, in which my beloved Broncos reside.  This division is an odd one to figure out: sometimes the Chiefs play flawless football, other times it looks like they belong in a pop warner league; the Broncos run a gimmick offense that might not be able to sustain success in the NFL, but their defense is lights out; the Chargers are an enigma every year; and the Raiders are...well...the Raiders.  Here's the rosters for each team:

Denver Broncos

  • QB Tim Tebow
  • RB Knowshon Moreno
  • WR Eric Decker
  • WR Demariyus Thomas
  • OT Ryan Clady
  • OT Orlando Franklin
  • C J.D. Walton

  • DE Robert Ayers
  • DE Elvis Dumervil
  • DT Brodrick Bunkley
  • CB Champ Bailey
  • CB Andre Goodman
  • S Brian Dawkins
  • LB D.J. Williams

Special Teams:

  • K Matt Prater
  • P Britton Colquitt

Okay, this might be my favorite NFL Blitz Broncos roster, or any football roster for that matter, since Ed McCaffrey, Rod Smith, Terrell Davis, and Shannon Sharpe were the unstoppable playmakers.  Eric Decker is my new McCaffrey.  The defense was an odd choice with the exclusion of Von Miller.  I understand there's only one LB spot, but the aging D.J. Williams should have been left out for the possible Defense Rookie of the Year.  Von Miller will most likely make the Pro Bowl, and he is among sack leader.  The kid hasn't missed a tackle all year and has brought that defense out of the depths of awfulness.  Big mistake leaving him out.  Matt Prater is probably the most clutch kicker in the NFL...just wanted to throw that in.

Kansas City Chefs Chiefs

  • QB Matt Cassel
  • RB Jamaal Charles
  • WR Dwayne Bowe
  • TE Tony Moeaki
  • OT Branden Albert
  • OT Barry Richardson
  • C Casey Wiegmann

  • DE Tyson Jackson
  • DE Glenn Dorsey
  • DT Kelly Gregg
  • CB Brandon Carr
  • CB Brandon Flowers
  • S Eric Berry
  • LB Derrick Johnson

Special Teams

  • K Ryan Succop
  • P Dustin Colquitt

There's talent all over that defense; it looks quite scary.  A healthy Eric Berry is a huge difference to any game, so imagine what he'll be like in Blitz.  I'm not a fan of Matt Cassel, and I'm sure the same goes for a lot of Chiefs fans, but you got two huge playmakers in Bowe and Charles to carry this offense.  I think this will be quite a strong team in Blitz.

Oakland Raiders

  • QB Carson Palmer
  • RB Darren McFadden
  • WR Louis Murphy
  • WR Jacoby Ford
  • OT Jared Veldheer
  • OT Khalif Barnes
  •  C Samson Satele

  • DE Lamarr Houston
  • DE Matt Shaughnessy
  • DT Richard Seymour
  • CB Stanford Routt
  • CB Chris Johnson
  • S Tyvon Branch
  • LB Kameron Wimbley

Special Teams:

  • K Sebastian Janikowski
  • P Shane Lechler

This team doesn't scare me at all.  The only player worth a damn on this team in Darren McFadden.  The rest are so 'blah'.  Here's the gameplan: don't let Carson Palmer screw up, and get the ball to McFadden...every play.

San Diego Chargers

  • QB Philip Rivers
  • RB Ryan Matthews
  • WR Vincent Jackson
  • TE Antonio Gates
  • OT Marcus McNeill
  • OT Jeromey Clary
  • C Nick Hardwick

  • DE Jaques Cesaire
  • DE Luis Castillo
  • DT Antonio Garay
  • CB Antoine Cason
  • CB Quentin Jammer
  • S Eric Weddle
  • LB Shaun Phillips

Special Teams:

  • K Nate Kaeding
  • P Mike Scifres

I feel like this team was put together by Chargers GM A.J. Smith so that they'd be good in NFL Blitz.  They have the exact offense you want in that game: two tall, fast, receivers who catch everything, a young talented RB, and an amazing QB who makes all the throws.  This will be one of the top offenses in the game.  The defense?  Not scary at all.  With this offense, though, you might not have to worry about stopping the other team.
