New Max Payne Fan Film Looks Pretty Cool
A group of Max Payne die-hards are currently working on a film adaptation of the series. The fan film, titled Max Payne: Defrayal, is set to be the first in a series of short films that tells the tale of one of the most awesomely depressing characters in video game history. After checking out the trailer for Defrayal, I have to say, it doesn't look half bad.
It's usually pretty interesting to see how fans of a video game adapt their favorite titles to film format. Just by watching the trailer, I can already tell that this is going to be a lot more like Max Payne than Hollywood's take on the franchise. Remember that movie? Man, that was pretty bad.
Admittedly, I thought some of the effects in the Max Payne movie were good, and Olga Kurylenko is always a fine presence on the big screen (and I mean really fine!), but the whole thing was a sheer disgrace to the series. I like to tell people that the Max Payne film was a decent action flick, but a terrible recreation of an incredible franchise. Defrayal, on the other hand, looks like a nice attempt by some fans at creating some magic of their own as a tribute to Max Payne.
Be sure to check out the trailer for Max Payne: Defrayal. Hey, I just remembered something. What happened to that independent film Payne and Redemption? Is that ever going to be completed?
