New Xbox Website Lets you Cancel Xbox LIVE Auto-Renewal
Microsoft has revamped Xbox.com, and one change users will find is the ability to turn auto-renewal of Xbox LIVE subscriptions off.
That's right, you can now cancel your Xbox LIVE gold membership without having to go through the hassle of talking to those annoying representatives reading a script, asking you why you want to cancel your subscription, and guilting you into renewing. This is most definitely a welcomed changed as one of the biggest gripes Xbox 360 owners had towards Xbox.com and Xbox LIVE was having to call to cancel their membership.
Welcome to 2011 Microsoft.
The new revamp brought other changes as well including the new Beacons functionality, which marks games you'd like to play with friends. I admire their effort to branch into the more social aspect of gaming, but there is really no purpose. Friend messaging has been improved as well as browsing through games and Achievements.
Xbox.com design was inspired by Microsoft's Metro UI theme, last seen with the Windows Phone 7. The changes are in preparation for the fall Xbox 360 dashboard update which recently began inviting users to participate in the beta.
