New Assassin's Creed Trailer Showcases Tower Defense Mode
The latest "secrets of the ottomans" trailer for Assassin's Creed: Revelations, showcases one of the more unique game modes new to the game: Den Defense. This mode is essentially the game's take on the classic "tower defense" genre, with Ezio commanding fellow Assassin's Guild members to take up positions on rooftops, raining down fire on waves of advancing Templars. A variety of "turret" types are available, such as the inexpensive but similarly underpowered archers, or stronger more capable riflemen, who will put a dent in your "morale" meter. Successfully defeating waves of foes earns steadily more morale, allowing Ezio to send more troops to battle. Though players will also have to place strategic barricades to impede the Templar's path, and make good use of the devestating but slow-to-recharge cannon attack.
A major theme of this final Assassin's Creed game is the struggle between the Assassin's Guild and the Templars for control of districts like Constantinople, each faction racing to find the keys that will unlock the library in Masyaf, ancestral home of the Assassin's and resting place of many powerful relics. The Den Defense mode allows players to fight for control of these districts, and successfully fending off the Templars will make the city streets much safer to walk in the future, and allow Ezio to better progress on his quest for the library keys.
Assassin's Creed: Revelations launches November 15th for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms.
