Netflix on 360, PS3, and Wii Dominates Bandwidth Usage

If you've been enjoying Netflix on your game console of choice, you're not the only one. Gamasutra reports that an independent study found 19.7 percent of all bandwidth usage in the country comes from Netflix instant watchers on Xbox 360s, Playstation 3s, and Wiis. That's insane.

Other fun facts include an average of 2.5 GB per day of video content streamed through consoles. This stat is surely due to the high rate of HD video available on the service.

As for which console has the most usage, based on overall Netflix activity, the PS3 leads with 30.57 percent followed by the 360's 24.94 percent and the Wii with 10.75 percent. Those complaints about the PSN outage causing a lack of Netflix weren't for nothing.

The scary part of all this is the increasingly pervasive bandwidth caps introduced by ISPs. What will those stats look like when you have to watch your usage?
