Naughty Dog Aiming to Make Uncharted 3 the “Go-to Game” for PS3 Multiplayer
Naughty Dog's Uncharted 3 will be the go-to game for multiplayer on the PlayStation 3 if all things go to plan, according to the latest issue of GamePro. The team learned from their experiences with Uncharted 2's multiplayer, saying that it could have been better though they had limited time to work on it. One of the more pressing issues with it was the health system, to which Naughty Dog said: "One thing we learned from UC2 multiplayer was that damage/health should be 'the same or similar to single player.'"
Uncharted 3's multiplayer will reportedly take inspiration from Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and Red Dead Redemption due to their third-person perspectives, though it would have been nice to see implementations from the bigger, more established multiplayer titles. Excluding ridiculous XP bonuses for walking three miles, of course.
If any game should be considered as inspiration for a third-person multiplayer experience, look no further than Gears of War. Even though it was thrown in last-minute, its simplicity is still loved to this day and plays a big part in Gears of War 2's competitive play, despite the two games' differences.
Uncharted 3 is set for release on November 1, and then the game is set for the big screen with none other than Marky Mark at the helm. Titled Drake's Deception, the third and potentially final game will feel "more open" than previous entries, but won't feel open-world like Grand Theft Auto games.
