Mortal Kombat Nearing 3 Million Units Sold Worldwide
Chances are you already know that Mortal Kombat is a kick-ass fighter. If you have yet to play the game, I would suggest you go out and buy it this very second. Then, say goodbye to your social life for the next few weeks.
Apparently, a lot of gamers around the world are aware of the sheer awesomeness of Mortal Kombat. According to Warner Bros. Interactive President Mark Tremblay, the game has sold nearly 3 million units worldwide. Those are some good sales figures, and according to Tremblay, the earnings have already "paid for the acquisition of the Midway assets."
Further research shows that Mortal Kombat has managed to outsell its competition. According to Joystiq, Super Street Fighter IV has sold 1.6 million units, and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has sold 2 million total units. Not bad sales figures by any means, but certainly significantly lower than Mortal Kombat, which launched after both games.
It's good to see a quality game like Mortal Kombat selling so well. Seriously, if you haven't played the game, you need to drop what you're doing right now and go pick it up. Also, while you're there, snag a copy of Shadows of the Damned. That game isn't selling, and that's very upsetting to me.
