Mod Tools Coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops on PC Post-launch

In a forum post on the Call of Duty: Black Ops website, Treyarch’s Cesar Stastny (aka “PCDev”) stated that mod tools are in the works for the hugely anticipated shooter. While he didn’t state when they should be expected, and noted that the developer is simply concerned with finishing the game, the post does state that Treyarch will definitely try to implement these features in the PC version post-launch.

“There are some purely technical issues related to engine and internal tool enhancements that do not easily fit the modtools paradigm,” Stastny said in the post. “We have looked at it close enough to see that it is non-trivial and we will have to pick it up again post-launch. Right now we are completely focused on finishing the game.”

The extent of the game’s modability is not yet known, but this is certainly something that PC owners have to be excited about. Call of Duty: Black Ops releases on November 9 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
