Microsoft Releases Next Wave of Apps for Xbox 360

Following the most recent Xbox 360 dashboard update, Microsoft is continuing to build the Xbox 360 into a central entertainment hub, releasing the next wave of apps for the Xbox 360.  Adding to the already impressive catalog of movies, sports, television, and music, Microsoft has introduced all new apps to add to the entertainment experience.

Today, Microsoft's Major Nelson announced the following apps which, starting today, are now available on Xbox LIVE for the Xbox 360 in various regions.

  • 4 on Demand (C4). United Kingdom
  • ABC iView (Australian Broadcasting Corp.). Australia
  • Dailymotion. Available in 34 countries globally**
  • Demand 5 (Five). United Kingdom
  • M6. France
  • MSN Video. France
  • UFC on Xbox LIVE (UFC). Canada, United States
  • VUDU (Wal-Mart). United States

Starting in Spring 2012, Orange TV will be coming to Xbox LIVE in France, thanks to a recent agreement reached between Microsof and Orange.  Thirty Orange TV channels will initially be available, including the major channels available in the French market. Later in the year, “catch-up” TV and Orange’s video on demand catalog will also be available.

Earlier this month, Microsoft announced plans to release dozens of entertainment apps on the Xbox 360 - including the recently added YouTube and iHeartRadio apps.

These new Xbox LIVE app additions are part of Microsoft's overall goal of transforming the Xbox 360 from a gaming console to an entire entertainment hub where you can find television, music, movies, and sports.
