Michael Fassbender was in talks to star in Star Wars: The Force Awakens

He was really busy, though.

Michael Fassbender has been killing it in Hollywood lately. He's been in tons of major franchises like Assassin's Creed, X-Men, and he even portrayed the late Steve Jobs. It's safe to say he is pretty happy with his career but he almost landed another role in the biggest franchise out there, Star Wars.

In 2014, it was reported that the actor was in talks to play some sort of character in the film but at the time it was just a rumor with no real evidence. Turns out, it was true! Fassbender confirmed the claims on a podcast stating he was too busy to join the cast of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

“We talked about a role. We had a conversation. I’m pretty sure I was busy doing something else in the summer he was kickstarting that.”

It's unclear who he would've played but he seems like he would've fit really well in the shoes of Rebel pilot, Poe Dameron. When his name was rumored to be in consideration for the film, the rumor suggested he would play some sort of Imperial commander which sounds similar to General Hux.

Michael Fassbender's latest film is Assassin's Creed and it sounds like it may take up a lot of his time as there are plans for a couple sequels. It's hard to say if those plans will move forward as the film is getting slammed in reviews.
