Madden NFL 16 player ratings: Top 5 running backs revealed

No surprises here.

Jamaal Charles – Kansas City Chiefs – 94 Overall

Jamaal Charles - Madden NFL 16

When you’ve got Alex Smith as quarterback, you need a running back. Jamaal Charles total rushing yards may have been down last year, but he still managed a whopping 9 rushing touchdowns. That’s good enough for 95 Elusiveness, 92 Speed, 92 Acceleration, 98 Agility, 97 Juke Move, and 94 Spin Move. Not to mention, he’s a threat in the passing game with a league-best among 86 Catching (among RBs)

DeMarco Murray – Philadelphia Eagles – 94 Overall

Demarco Murray

As a Cowboys fan, I can’t think of a worse place for DeMarco Murray to have signed. Alas, the elite running back plays for that soulless city now and despite being a top-back last year, there’s still some question as to whether Murray’s success last season can be attributed to his own skill or that dominating Cowboys offensive line. I guess we’ll find out soon enough, but for at least the start of Madden 16, Murray will have 94 Overall with 96 Trucking, 97 Stiff Arm, 97 Juke Move, 95 Elusiveness, 94 Spin Move, 89 Speed, 91 Acceleration, and 98 Agility.

Le’Veon Belle – Pittsburgh Steelers – 94 Overall

Le'Veon Belle - Madden NFL 16

Rounding the top five running backs in Madden 16 is Pittsburgh Steelers Le’Veon Bell with a league-best 99 Carrying. Also a threat out of the backfield, Bell boasts 83 catching with 88 Speed, 95 Elusiveness and 97 Juke Move. For those who prefer him as a traditional between the tackles back, he’s got 84 Trucking and 92 Stiff Arm.

While the NFL is transitioning into more of a passing league, there’s no denying the importance of a stable running back, or core of running backs as the position has become more of a committee position. Still, though, teams like the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys showed us last year how a running game can open up the passing game. So what running backs in Madden 16 will be able to do so? EA Sports has revealed the top 5 running backs in this year’s Madden.

Marshawn Lynch – Seattle Seahawks – 96 Overall

Madden NFL 16 - Marshawn Lynch

At 96 overall, Marshawn Lynch is the highest rated running back in Madden NFL 16. He boasts a league-best 99 Stiff Arm, 98 Trucking, and 89 Strength. Other ratings inlude 94 Juke Move, 91 Elusiveness, 88 Acceleration, 85 Speed, and a whopping 100 for Crotch Grab.

Adrian Peterson – Minnesota Vikings – 95 Overall

Madden NFL 16 - Adrian Peterson

Despite an entire season off, stemming from a child abuse incident last year, Adrian Peterson remains one of the top running backs in Madden NFL 16. If you can look past his off-the-field, you’ll find a running back with all the right on-the-field qualities, including 88 Strength, 94 Trucking, 90 Speed, 92 Elusiveness, 96 Stiff Arm, 95 Juke Move, and 94 Spin Move. It’s good to have you back, Adrian… said only Vikings fans.
