Leon Kennedy and Barry Burton Join Alice In Resident Evil: Retribution Film

Director of the Resident Evil movies, Paul S. Anderson, has done something different for a change and listened to fan requests for the upcoming fifth movie, Resident Evil: Retribution. Retribution continues Alice's never-ending battle against Umbrella Corporation, and sees K-Mart along with Clair and Chris Redfield kidnapped by the Umbrella.

Milla Jovovich, who will reprise her role as Alice, has recently revealed some new additions to the cast as well as the setting and biological threat via Twitter. According to Jovovich, Retribution will feature the Las Plagas parasites from Resident Evil 4 and promises to be the most action-packed of the series yet. Oh boy, more over-the-top pointless action highlight Alice's superhero powers. But how true will the film be to the games (even though we all know they won't be at all)? Although the films have done fairly well in theaters, fans of the game series have generally had mixed feelings about the franchise.

Well, fans will be pleased to know that three new characters will be joining Alice, Jill, Claire, and Chris. Jovovich revealed that new additions to the film include RPD officer Leon S. Kennedy and S.T.A.R.S. weapons specialist Barry Burton in all his fiery red ginger-glory. Also joining the cast is "Organization" agent Ada Wong.

I've never been a fan of Anderson's Resident Evil films. Quite frankly, he's butchered the films so that the only thing they have in common with the games is character names and the title of the film. Sorry, but the franchise lost all credibility when Anderson decided to make Jovovich a love interest of Nemesis in the 2nd film. But I am glad to see my favorite character, Barry, make an appearance in this film. Hopefully he can bring the Resident Evil films to where they need to be in my heart.
