Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Headed to Mobile Devices
RPGs on mobile devices are becoming a bit more prominent. With games like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy Tactics landing on the iPhone, it's obvious that fans of the genre have a few reasons to get excited regarding the mobile platform. Now, another beloved RPG is making its way to smartphones.
As reported by Siliconera, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky will be ported to mobile devices. Though specific platforms haven't been confirmed, all signs point toward an iPhone port, as well as a possible Android release. Additionally, while news of Trails in the Sky originally surfaced in Japan, the company behind the project confirmed that the game would come to North America.
Trails in the Sky was originally localized by XSEED for the PSP. Whether the company will stay on board with the mobile re-release is currently unknown. All we can confirm at the moment is that Aeria Games, the company behind the Sorcerian iPhone remake, is also in charge of porting Trails in the Sky to mobile phones.
I like the idea of more RPGs being released on mobile devices. Though most of what we seen consists of remakes, I've always thought RPGs were great for portable gaming. Trails in the Sky is certain to gather a following, and with social and online elements being featured in the game, it should provide an interesting gameplay experience. Though details are slim at the moment, Aeria is sure to reveal more, hopefully in the near future.
