Learn About Darkspore's Hero Editor


Considering the hype leading up to the release of Spore, it's kind of amazing how quickly it fell off of everyone's radar. Not content to leave it at that, Maxis is putting out Darkspore, which uses tech from Spore to power a Diablo-esque action-RPG. In their latest video diary, the developer explains how Darkspore's Hero Editor (which looks an awful lot like the Spore Creature Creator) works.

It seems to me like Maxis has much more realistic goals for this game than they did for Spore. Maybe it's not going to change the world, but the hero customization looks like it will allow players to make a much more unique character than they can in most action-RPGs. Let's just hope it has the gameplay to back it up.
