KontrolFreek to release Call of Duty, Destiny gaming gear this year

Products start rolling out this spring

Gaming accessory specialist KontrolFreek recently announced plans to work with Activision and Bungie to release Call of Duty- and Destiny-branded gaming gear throughout 2016.

“The team is thrilled to be working with KontrolFreek to introduce new thumbsticks and even more for Destiny,” said Bungie’s Jim McQuillan, visual identity and brand creative director. “This year we’re hoping to work together with KontrolFreek to create some unique designs that embody the Destiny experience for our fans.”

Aside from thumbsticks, KontrolFreek has not yet detailed exactly what peripherals and products will be released. The company is known for its FPSFreek thumbstick grips, but has also created several controller grips and plates as well as miscellaneous gaming merch.

“We’re launching multiple products for both franchises, so you will be sure to get your perfect pairing for either CoD or Destiny,” KontrolFreek’s Julia Gardial said in a blog post. In a separate release, the company said “the partnerships include several new products … designed to optimize gameplay in each AAA title.”

Historically, KontrolFreek maintains that its thumbstick grips improve FPS play by enhancing accuracy and target acquisition, expanding the player's range of motion and improving comfort and grip.

In 2015, KontrolFreek worked with Activision to create five Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 products, including Jugger-Nog thumbsticks. Similar products can be expected to come of the pair’s latest agreement, though it appears KontrolFreek has more planned for both Call of Duty and Destiny in 2016.

“We are always looking for new ways to give our customers high-quality products that reflect their game style and their favorite titles,” said KontrolFreek CEO Ashish Mistry. “These new licensing deals solidify that strategy even more and we can’t wait to see what the future brings with these two fantastic brands.”

KontrolFreek’s upcoming products will be available at online and brick-and-mortar retailers, including Best Buy, GAMEUK and GameStop. The first wave of gear will launch this spring.
