BURBANK, Calif. -- (April 27, 2000) -- Disney's Dinosaur Activity Center CD-ROM from Disney Interactive brings home the prehistoric action of this summer’s eagerly awaited feature film from Walt Disney Pictures, Dinosaur. The title roars onto computer screens nationwide May 16, 2000. Launching in conjunction with the film’s theatrical release, and featuring original voice talent from the movie, the CD-ROM lets children play five multi-level activities including arcade, creativity, logic and strategy games.

 

Supported by an extensive marketing campaign, Disney's Dinosaur Activity Center CD-ROM, a Windows®95/98 and Macintosh® hybrid title, has a suggested retail price of $29.99.

 

Disney’s Dinosaur Activity Center CD-ROM offers an unprecedented 200 levels of arcade gameplay, which provide depth and replayability as kids match themselves against prehistoric beasts in a world ruled by dinosaurs. The CD-ROM allows children ages five and up to play and create through a variety of enjoyable games and activities based on Walt Disney Pictures’ Dinosaur; it even lets kids produce their own dinosaur and e-mail it to friends. National Marketing Support

Disney Interactive will launch a fully-integrated national marketing program to support the May 16 release of Disney’s Dinosaur Activity Center CD-ROM through print and radio. To further garner roaring excitement for the title, the company will participate in national promotions, cross merchandising, and studio-synergy activities.

 

Advertising

* Radio Disney Campaign – Disney Interactive will execute a four-week campaign featuring 30-second spots on Radio Disney, which target 1.5 million children and their mothers each week.

* Print Advertising – Print ads will be featured in Disney Adventures (June issue) and Disney Magazine (Summer issue). The publications, which reach the product’s target audience, have a combined circulation of two million.

 

Retail Movie Ticket Promotion

* With the purchase of Disney’s Dinosaur Activity Center CD-ROM, consumers will receive a pre-paid child’s admission ticket to any theater showing Dinosaur. The ticket will be inserted into the CD-ROM boxes and will be available while inventory supplies last. If children are unable to use this ticket for Dinosaur, they will receive a complimentary voucher for any Walt Disney Pictures presentation running through December 31, 2000.

 

National Promotions

* McDonald’s Dinosaur Promotion – Disney Interactive will participate in McDonald’s huge Hatch, Match & Win sweepstakes. Consumers can win instantly or collect game pieces to win amazing prizes including a Disney software library worth over $500. In addition, a Compaq Presario Internet PC accompanies this Disney software package. A total of 50 Disney Interactive/Compaq packages will be given away. The sweepstakes will be promoted through point-of-purchase items, tray-liners, cups, drive-thru bags etc.

 

Cross Merchandising and Synergy Promotional Opportunities

* Buena Vista Pictures Distribution – Disney’s Dinosaur Activity Center CD-ROM will be featured on in-theater kids’ concession trays to be sold during the theatrical run of Disney’s Dinosaur. * Walt Disney Records – The CD-ROM will be promoted on the Dinosaur Song Factory CD through Walt Disney Records. Internet Presence and E-Mail Campaign

* Sweepstakes and Promotions – An online campaign will promote the CD-ROM through banner ads on a variety of prominent children- and parent-oriented Web sites. Various online sweepstakes and promotions will also be implemented.

Disney’s Dinosaur Activity Center CD-ROM lets children experience the fun of the animated feature film through a variety of gameplay formats including the following five elements:

 

Fun and Engaging Creativity Activity:

* Line O’Dinos Puzzle Maker invites children to create their own dinosaurs complete with roars by recording their own voices or choosing from pre-recorded dinosaur roars. After creating this dinosaur, the image is scrambled into a challenging puzzle. Once the puzzle is completed, the dinosaur roars to life through animation, sound, and a funny story unique to that dinosaur. Children can e-mail their puzzles to friends or print them.

 

Three Action-Packed Arcade Games:

* Iquanodon Pond-a-thon features 100 levels of action-filled gameplay. In this exciting game, children can play against the computer or a friend to help the dinosaurs find their way to the water.

* Stegasaurus Spelunker is an arcade adventure with 100 challenging levels. To escape from a rock-filled cave, players must destroy all of the boulders by combining sequences of three or more rocks.

* Lemur Love Match challenges children to pair up Lemurs by matching flowers at the end of each Lemur tree vine. The clock is ticking though...and in order to advance to the next level, players must race to make all the matches before the sun sets.

 

Challenging Multi-Level Reasoning Game:

* Colossal Fossil Face-Off is a strategy game in which children lead their dinosaur team to recover a stolen egg from a fierce group of carnotaurs. The activity also offers printable "Dino Fact" cards to help children learn more about this prehistoric species.
