Ubisoft Finally Turns Off Ridiculous DRM for PC Games

DRM has been a greatly controversial topic, with most publishers punishing honest, money-paying customers instead of the dirty pirates they were allegedly aiming for to begin with. I imagine some DRM has even reverse-psychologied normal humans into becoming dirty, filthy, garbage-loving pirates themselves.

Ubisoft was one such offender, but it seems–according to the denizens of Reddit–that the company has finally decided to peel back their DRM, no longer requiring players to be connected to the internet in order to enjoy Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell.

Normally the games will pause if an internet connection is lost while playing, but now they only need a connection to validate the install upon booting up. An annoying hindrance for those with flaky connectivity or plane-going Splinter Cell operatives, but a step in the right direction nonetheless.

Or you could just rent it from Gamefly and play on your Xbox 360. Nubs…
