Dragon Age 2 Has Gone Gold, Demo Coming February 22

Bioware announced yesterday that their upcoming fantasy RPG, Dragon Age 2, has gone gold. The game is set for a March 8 release on PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Mac.

Those that can’t wait for the full release will get a taste of the game in the form of a demo headed to Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on February 22. Bioware detailed the contents of the demo in their forums:

“In the demo, players will venture through the game’s prologue, choosing from three different character classes. They’ll also learn more about Hawke and hone their skills and abilities that will make them the ultimate hero. After finishing the prologue, players will enter a key new location in the world of Dragon Age, Kirkwall, befriending Isabela, a romantic interest in the game who is also a deadly smuggler. Upon completion of the demo, players will unlock a special weapon, Hayder’s Razor, an ancient dwarven blade which increases health, mana, and combat abilities, in the full release of Dragon Age II.”

Bioware was also keen to point out that the demo doesn’t take your original Dragon Age character into account, nor does it give you a head start in the main game. It will simply set the stage and give you a little extra when you begin the final game in March.

Meanwhile, I’m still trying to figure out how Bioware can put out one huge RPG after another while some developers can’t even get a five-hour game out on time.

Video games became an amazing, artful, interactive story-driven medium for me right around when I played Panzer Dragoon Saga on Sega Saturn. Ever since then, I've wanted to be a part of this industry. Somewhere along the line I, possibly foolishly, decided I'd rather write about them than actually make them. So here I am.
