Is Resident Evil 6 in the Works?
Rumors are running rampant across the internet regarding the Resident Evil series. Capcom recently held a closed-door event in Japan, and it's possible that the company may have hinted at the next major entry in the long-running survival horror franchise. This is especially interesting due to all of the Resident Evil content we've been seeing as of late.
According to GameBandits, a logo was seen for Resident Evil 6, with September 15, 2011 listed below the game's title. Now, don't take that to mean that the sequel to Resident Evil 5 will launch this September. The Tokyo Game Show begins that day, so Capcom may be teasing a major reveal for the first day of the big gaming event.
Nothing is set in stone yet, and this whole thing could just be a big rumor started up with some mighty impressive Photoshop work, but it's still fun to think about. Resident Evil has been a main focus of Capcom as of late, with the company looking at the 3DS for some handheld releases. There's also the upcoming HD remakes of Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica. And let's not forget Operation Raccoon City.
We're bound to find out more about Resident Evil 6 in the near future if it really is something that the folks over at Capcom are working on. Resident Evil 5 was released in 2009, so the time seems appropriate for a sixth entry in the main series. Here's hoping Resident Evil 6 is more than just a rumor.
