Hotline Miami creator talks about developing the murder fest with GameMaker

Devolver Digital and Dennaton Games have officially launched Hotline Miami, and it's already managed to receive its share of critical praise across the good ol' internet. The game, which is a pixelated top-down action-stealth title, was developed using GameMaker, a tool that co-creator Jonatan "Cactus" Soderstrom has bestowed a ton of praise upon.

"GameMaker is fantastic," stated Soderstrom. "I honestly am not sure I would even be able to make games if it weren't for GamerMaker."

Other titles that have been developed using the YoYo Games-created tool include the ever-popular Spelunky and Super Crate Box. "It's hugely rewarding to see cutting edge titles like Hotline Miami being created with GameMaker," said YoYo Games Chief Executive Officer Sandy Duncan.

GameMaker has become the go-to tool for plenty of developers, and it's great seeing them employ it to create unique experiences. Hotline Miami launched earlier this week on multiple PC download shops. The game is available for $9.99. Expect a review here on GameZone in the very near future.
