Hideo Kojima’s first game will be “a big title,” that will use third-party engine to release sooner

Don't rush it!

After Hideo Kojima and Konami officially parted ways, Kojima established his own studio, Kojima Productions, and formed a partnership with Sony to make a game for PlayStation platforms. Shortly after Kojima has made everything official, he began touring the world looking for the 'newest' technology he could find.

Kojima never specified what technology he was looking at, he simply shared a ton of pictures of himself with various developers, a bunch pictures of planes and alcohol. It turns out, Kojima has been looking for the right technology to use on his first game.

According to Kojima, he wants to release his game as soon as possible.

"I actually think it's better to make games using internal tools," Kojima said at the Nordic Game 2016 festival. "As for my first title, because I want to release it to the people who are waiting for it, for that title we are going to use a third-party engine – the reason I am travelling around the world is looking for such technology to use."

"At the beginning I was thinking to make a small title, [but] after I met friends and acquaintances worldwide they said, 'no everyone's expecting you to make a big title'. So the first title coming from me will be a big title."

Recently, Kojima stated that The Division and Uncharted fans will enjoy his game. If his first game is as big as those two, Kojima will certainly need good technology to make it happen.
